Next stage unlocked! RESIL-Card completed the pilot testing of its resilience assessment tool

Launched in April 2025, the testing of the RESIL-Card self-assessment tool, organised as part of the pilot phase, has now been completed. The consortium would like to warmly thank all the participants for their contribution to this important stage of the project.

The pilot phase, initiated in February 2025, followed the release of the first version of the resilience assessment tool. Led by CatSalut, it aims to assess the tool’s functionality, usability and applicability in real-life healthcare settings prior to its wider dissemination across Europe in 2026.

After expert reviews and revisions to the initial version of the tool, a monitored multicentre pilot study was initiated in April with the distribution of materials to the pilot participants: the RESIL-Card step-by-step guide and the preparedness checklist.

Ten volunteering pilot hospitals in Spain and Italy, that had previously contributed to the focus groups in 2024, were tasked with implementing the tool. The exercise involved setting up a multidisciplinary team, comprising general and interventional cardiologists, nurses, technicians, coordinators, and, in some cases, hospital managers.

Each pilot team applied the tool to their local setting, documenting the time required for the implementation and the challenges encountered, before completing a feedback questionnaire. Individual structured 90-minute interviews were then conducted online with each pilot coordinator to gather in-depth insights into the resources used, obstacles faced, and positive outcomes achieved.

At the same time, the feedback questionnaire was distributed to sixteen European non-acute care professionals, who were asked to evaluate the performance of the tool in several key areas:

  • Representation of professional roles involved in cardiovascular care
  • Usability and ease of use
  • Clarity of instructions and key messages
  • Accuracy of recommendations
  • Technical challenges
  • Overall satisfaction

Feedback from pilot participants has been analysed. The findings will be shared at a collective meeting hosted by CatSalut on September 30th, 2025, where all the participating centres will discuss proposed solutions to identified improvements.

Thanks to its structured, iterative, and participatory approach, which allows for thorough evaluation of the tool’s usability and adaptability, the pilot study provided practical recommendations to guide the future refinement of the RESIL-Card tool and support its implementation across healthcare systems.
