EuroPCR 2026: Showcasing RESIL-Card and building momentum for adoption across Europe

Held in Paris from 19–22 May, EuroPCR 2026 provided an important opportunity for the RESIL-Card consortium to engage directly with the international community of interventional cardiovascular medicine and showcase the project’s work to interventional cardiologists, nurses and allied professionals, clinical leaders, and representatives of professional societies from across Europe and beyond.

A major event was the dedicated RESIL-Card session included in the official EuroPCR scientific programme. This session focused on the practical application of the RESIL-Card tool, demonstrating how cardiovascular departments can assess the preparedness of their care pathways and identify ways to strengthen their resilience in the event of future disruptions.

Particular emphasis was placed on sharing real-world experience. Early users of the tool presented their experiences of using RESIL-Card, discussing how the assessment process helped stimulate multidisciplinary reflection on preparedness, identify potential vulnerabilities, and support discussions on service continuity and improvement.

To complement the scientific session, the RESIL-Card consortium held a stakeholder meeting attended by consortium members, project’s partners, and Chairs and representatives of national interventional cardiology working groups from across Europe. The meeting provided a valuable forum to discuss national dissemination plans, share best practice, and explore strategies to encourage the wider adoption of the tool within cardiovascular departments. The discussions also addressed ways to engage with healthcare authorities and policymakers to help embed resilience considerations more broadly within healthcare planning and service organisation.

Throughout the course, RESIL-Card benefited from strong visibility across multiple communication channels. Project coordinator’s representatives participated in the opening press conference, contributing to discussions on the importance of preparedness and resilience in cardiovascular care. Members of the consortium supporting communication and dissemination activities also recorded an interview highlighting the project’s objectives, achievements, current efforts and future ambitions.

Additional dissemination activities included the distribution of project leaflets, the display of posters and intersession slides, and the publication of project-related content on EuroPCR communication channels. RESIL-Card was featured in an article published in the course’s Daily Wire and in a dedicated column in the EuroIntervention journal, extending the project’s reach to cardiovascular professionals unable to attend the dedicated sessions.

Feedback received during the scientific session, stakeholder meeting, and informal exchanges will inform the next phase of dissemination and implementation activities as RESIL-Card continues to grow its user network across Europe.

The consortium would like to thank EuroPCR, the national working groups involved in the project, the early adopters who shared their experiences, and all the participants who contributed to the discussions. Their engagement is helping to establish a community of clinical practitioners committed to strengthening the resilience of cardiovascular care pathways and ensuring that cardiovascular services are better equipped to face future challenges.
